Interactive Gravity Calculator
How to Use This Calculator
This calculator determines the gravitational force between two objects using Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation.
- Enter the mass of the first object (Mass 1) in kilograms (kg).
- Enter the mass of the second object (Mass 2) in kilograms (kg).
- Enter the distance between the centers of the two objects in meters (m).
- Click the "Calculate Gravitational Force" button.
- The calculated force and a step-by-step solution will be displayed below.
Theory: Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation
Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation states that every particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. This means that:
- The more massive the objects, the stronger the gravitational force.
- The farther apart the objects are, the weaker the gravitational force.
Formula Used
F = G × (m1 × m2) / r2
- F = Gravitational Force in Newtons (N)
- G = Gravitational Constant ≈
6.67430 × 10-11
N(m/kg)2 - m1 = Mass of the first object in kilograms (kg)
- m2 = Mass of the second object in kilograms (kg)
- r = Distance between the centers of the two objects in meters (m)
